Smoky Mt. Invitational’s Winning Band

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Congratulations William Blount Governor Band for making Superior Ratings and taking Second Place in the 3A Classification in the Smoky Mountain Invitational Marching Competition at South Doyle!

Thank you to all the parents who were in attendance showing their support of all our band students.

The schedule is not set for next Saturday’s competition at Alcoa yet, but here’s an idea from Mr. Connell. Join us in the school parking lot for a tailgate party and then we’ll all caravan to Alcoa. Let’s show unified spirit for our students by sitting in a group and cheering them on. If you have been unable to watch their performance yet, this is your chance. They have come a long way and there are some special moments you won’t want to miss.

Because of the ACT testing, it will be after noon before the band meets. So watch your e-mail and when the schedule goes out we’ll know if we have enough time for a BYOF (bring your own food) tailgate party. And don’t forget to decorate your vehicle. Also, our photographer, David Cook said for those tailgating he’d bring us a copy of the band video.
